Gatley Open Gardens is resting in 2016 but will be back with beautiful gardens – old and new – in 2017!
For three years we have been supporting The Christie and raised a total of £13,438. Thank you to all supporters! Christie letter 2013-16
The money raised went towards a Hybrid Diagnostic CT and Gamma Camera – and we have been honoured by having our name included on the plaque next to the door of the room where the Camera is housed.
In the week before the Camera commenced service, major donors were invited to view it and have it explained. It was very moving to think that just by opening and visiting private gardens we could make such a difference to peoples’ lives.
The camera allows to pinpoint the exact location and size of the cancer and it helps to deliver the exact dose of radiation directly to a person’s tumour. This reduces treatment to just one session, as opposed to the conventional repeated sessions of chemotherapy.
We’ll be back in 2017 with lots more super gardens.
Look forward to seeing you then!
